The Teacher Training College

Until recently, secular education for men – even in the service of Torah learning – was considered unacceptable in certain sectors of the orthodox community. Teachers at Talmud Torah schools were not expected to be formally trained as educators.

For the past 18 years, the Achiya Teacher Training College has been at the forefront of vocational training in the orthodox educational community, providing male teachers with the skills they need to work effectively, especially with learning challenged children.

Today, with over 2,000 of its graduates teaching in Israel and abroad, Achiya has become a formidable source of educational empowerment that is having a direct and significant impact on thousands of youngsters in the orthodox and ultra-orthodox sectors.

Achiya graduates are transforming Israeli society, by ushering in a new era in which professionalism in education is expected – and every child is expected to succeed.

The Teacher Training College is having a positive economic effect on Charedi society, with its graduates gaining respectable, professional employment that allows them to support their families.
